The fight against the menace of banditry and other criminal activities in the north recorded a massive victory as the Nigerian troop neutralised an armed bandit in Plateau state.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) made this known on Saturday, October 17, in a statement issued by its coordinator of defence media operations, Major General John Enenche.

According to Enenche, the clearance operation was carried out by troops of Operation Safe Haven who quashed an armed robbery incident along Bokkos-Barkin Ladi Road, Jos and killed one in action.

He further stated that the troops deployed at Kuba on Friday, October 16, responded to a distress call on an armed robbery operation along the road.

The soldiers swiftly mobilized to the scene, during which they encountered the robbers where one was neutralized and others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Enenche said items recovered from the bandits include one locally fabricated rifle, two mobile handsets, four rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one jackknife.

He also said that the gallant troops have maintained vigilance in the general area and currently deny criminals freedom of action.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on Tuesday, October 6, was joyful over the successful operation of troops that resulted in the neutralisation of bandits in spots between Kaduna and Zamfara.

Abubakar expressed joy following the victory during his inspection of the conduct of the new subsidiary operation, Kashe Mugu 2 in Kaduna.

The CAS also vowed that airstrikes would be sustained to ensure that all identified camps are cleared.
